¿Tu casa tiene frío? Ponle la alfombra! / Is your home cold? Put a carpet!

Hace frío y en casa buscamos un rinconcito acogedor y cálido donde de relajarnos. Las alfombras son un complemento decorativo ideal para conseguir este ambiente sobretodo si tienes un suelo frío como el terrazo o el mármol.

1.- Nordic Bliss

Existe una gran variedad de alfombras donde elegir pero, para ello, previamente, tendrás que tener en cuenta ciertos aspectos del lugar donde tienes pensado colocarla.

Las dimensiones de la alfombra deben estar proporcionadas al espacio donde se va a colocar. En la zona de salón, la alfombra debe tener como mínimo la longitud del sofá y entrar por debajo de éste hasta la mitad de su profundidad. Si en la familia hay algún miembro con problemas respiratorios o de asma coloca alfombras de tipo vegetal.

Sin embargo, aspectos tan importantes como la seguridad y toxicidad en caso de incendio se dejan de lado, bien porque no sabemos cuál es su importancia o, bien porque damos por hecho que ya los cumplen.

Aunque no existe normativa al respecto, las alfombras que se colocan en las viviendas, deberían tener un tratamiento ignífugo tal y como se les exige a las alfombras o moquetas que se colocan en edificios públicos, de modo que no propaguen llama y se auto extingan, lo cual sería una ventaja muy importante en caso de incendio. Cuando menos rápido crecen las llamas, menos grave es la amenaza contra la vida.

Además, durante un incendio, el fuego es también un factor peligroso por el desprendimiento de humos tóxicos, con independencia del material que se esté quemando. La toxicidad del humo es variable y si bien puede depender del material que entra en combustión, también son importantes las condiciones del fuego, la temperatura y la disponibilidad del oxígeno. 

Tras estas recomendaciones, ya puedes abrigar tu casa con tranquilidad.

You can choose among a great variety of existing carpets, but, before, you will have to think about some aspects depending where it will be placed.

The dimensions of the carpet it must be fitted to the space where it is going to be placed. In the living room, the carpet must take the length of the sofa -as a minimum- and enter below this one up to the half of his depth. In the dining area, the size of the carpet depends of the table, sticking 1 meter out of the surface occupied by it, for example, if the table measures 1,80 x 0,80 m, the carpet will measure 3,80 x 2,80 m.

For busy spaces, it's better to use dark colors carpets.

The lighting of the room is another factor to bearing in mind: if the room is dark we recommend to use a carpet in clear colors.

Also the color of the room and the style of the furniture will help you to decide which kind of carpet you must choose.

If you have a family member with respiratory problems or asthma, choose a carpet of vegetable fiber. 

Nevertheless, aspects as important as the safety and toxicity in case of fire are left of side, because we don't know which is its importance or because we think that are fulfilled.

Although there isn't any regulation in the matter, the carpets that are placed in the housings should have a fireproof treatment, in the same way that the carpets placed in public buildings, what is a very important advantage in case of fire. The less quickly the flames grow, the less seriously it is the threat against the life and properties.

After these recommendations, you can already keep warm your house safely.
