Miren nos ha escrito para que le disipemos ciertas dudas en la reforma de su futura casa, para ello nos ha adjuntado unos planos y unas fotografías:
"Buenas noches, navegando
por páginas de decoración os descubrí y me parece genial vuestro
enfoque. Me gustaría saber si me podríais dar otra visión a mi "duda".
Estoy reformando una casa comprada. El plano antiguo de la
escritura era un salón de 10,61m² comunicado con una especie de arco de
unos 2,5m (no muro) a la cocina (9,51m²) El salón tiene 3 ventanas
estándar (2m) mientras que la cocina tenia una ventana móvil y un panel
de cristal fijo (total 1,8m) Todas dan al mismo lado.Los propietarios
anteriores movieron el muro achicando la cocina hasta contar con el
panel fijo en el salón. [...]
En estos momentos lo tengo todo vacío, sólo he tirado
los armarios empotrados. [...]
No me planteo
tener mesa de comedor, sólo una mesa extensible (y ya veré) Sin embargo
me emociona que me entre una mesa con banco en mi cocina, que es lo que
he tenido siempre donde mis padres. Me gusta más la vida de cocina que
la de salón (no me gusta la tv)
Y claro, no quiero perder 1 habitación, ya que mi
sueño es tener una de estudio y otra si hubiera niños... No quiero empezar a tirar muchos tabiques por el
coste. Creo que más bien tengo claro que quiero 2 entes separados, pero
no se si el salón sera minúsculo o no....

En un principio la consulta se centraba en mantener los usos de las habitaciones del plano, pero en un mail posterior, Miren se dio cuenta de que quizá uniendo el lavadero con el pasillo y el dormitorio anexo le podía quedar un salón más amplio.
En la foto inferior se puede apreciar cómo los anteriores dueños habían corrido el tabique divisorio entre salón y cocina apropiándose el primero de la puerta de salida al balcón en aras de ganar más espacio.
Vayamos con la solución: Se trata de ver si la cocina cuenta con suficiente superficie para disponer un comedor más o menos permanente y organizar un salón que pueda servir de comedor ocasional.
Devolviendo el tabique entre cocina y antiguo salón a su sitio se queda una cocina muy amplia en la que cabe una buena mesa que no tiene por qué ser plegable o de quita-y-pon, perfectamente puede ser fija siempre que dejes 75 u 80cm libres para poder maniobrar en la bancada. Por otro lado, al equipamiento de la cocina sólo cabría añadirle la lavadora, pues vamos a deshacernos del antiguo lavadero: modulando a 60cm los muebles de la cocina, que es la medida estándar, te cabría un lavaplatos, un fregadero de un seno, una lavadora, los fuegos, un resto que se aprovecha para la cajonera y una nevera; dotación suficiente, con bastante espacio de trabajo en torno al fregadero y a la cocina.

Ahora nos ocupamos del salón. Al integrar las tres estancias se percibe un espacio mucho más amplio aunque mantengamos despejada la circulación entre habitaciones a modo de pasillo "virtual". Es posible situar un sofá de dos o tres plazas (el que está dibujado mide dos metros) y puedes complementarlo desahogadamente con el resto de mobiliario necesario. No es mala idea la que apuntas, de tener una mesa de comedor extensible por si tienes invitados o quieres celebrar una cena más formal, pues hay recursos para reconvertir rápidamente el salón en comedor. En ese caso te recomendamos una mesa de centro que puedas mover fácilmente para poder ubicar en su lugar una mesa de comedor que mientras no la usas actúa como consola. El ámbito de actuación de un comedor para que os sintáis cómodos es un círculo de 2,50m de diámetro, como ves en el dibujo, te cabe perfectamente desplazando la mesa central.
En la solución que te sugerimos te damos la opción de mantener toda la armariada hacia el lado del dormitorio adyacente porque, contando con espacio suficiente para el estar ¿por qué renunciar a un armario, siempre tan necesario?

Como sugerencia, nosotras nos hemos fijado en el modelo de consola extensible Atik, de Portobellostreet, que plegada mide 45x130cm, y desplegada pasa a ser de 90x130cm.

In the second photo you can see how the previous owners had moved the dividing wall between lounge and kitchen appropriating the first one of the door to go out to the balcony to get a bigger space.
Let's go with the solution: it is a question of seeing if the kitchen has sufficient area to arrange a more or less permanent dining room and to organize a lounge that could be used as occasional dining room.
Returning the wall between kitchen and old lounge to its place remains a very wide kitchen where fits a table, not a folding one or a detachable one, but a fixed one providing that you leave a free distance of 75 or 80cm to be able to work in the kitchen bench. On the other hand, to the equipment of the kitchen you only have to add the washer, since we are going to remove the old washer: measuring in kitchen units of 60cm, which is the standard measure, it would fit a dishwasher, a simple sink, a washer, the stove, a rest measure to fit a drawer unit and the fridge; with enough working space beside the sink and the kitchen.
The old living will be your dreamed working studio, which well might turn punctually into a guests' bedroom.
Now let’s work on the living. On having integrated three rooms a much more wide space is perceived though we keep the traffic clear between rooms as a "virtual" corridor. It is possible to place a sofa of two or three seaters (the one that is drawn measures two meters) and you can complement it easily with the rest of necessary furniture. It is not a bad idea that you are thinking, of having a folder table of dining room in case you have guests or want to celebrate a more formal dinner, because there are resources to re-turn rapidly the lounge into dining room. In this case we recommend to you a coffee table that you could move to be able to locate easily in its place a table of dining room that while you do not use its looks as console. The area of action of a dining room in order that you feel comfortable is a circle of 2,50m of diameter, and as you see in the scheme, fits you perfectly moving the central table.
In the solution that we suggest you, we give you the option to keep the whole cupboard towards the side of the bedroom because, having sufficient space for the living why to renounce a cupboard, always so necessary?
