Tras leer el artículo de TodoConstrucción, "10 consejos para aislar tu casa del calor", nos hemos tropezado con esta vivienda australiana que cumple varias de las premisas que allí se nombran: vidrios con baja transmisión térmica, se evita la insolación directa sobre los cristales, protección de los cristales mediante persianas -a ser posible exteriores-, ventilación cruzada, buena orientación, suficiente iluminación natural, presencia de plantas y de agua...
La orientación, siempre que se pueda elegir, es fundamental. En nuestra latitud vincularemos las zonas de día al sur, aprovechando el calor en invierno y amortiguándolo en verano. Los grandes ventanales los dejaremos para el norte, desde donde la luz es más tamizada y uniforme.
En esta vivienda se ha plantado una hilera de bambúes que protege del sol la gran fachada acristalada, en el frente y en paralelo se ha construido un canal de agua, que permite obtener un grado de humedad muy agradable tanto para el mantenimiento de las plantas como para la estancia en el patio.
La ventilación cruzada se consigue haciendo circular el aire entre el patio principal de la vivienda y el pequeño patio inglés de la entrada sobre el que se sitúa el acceso a la vivienda.
Como curiosidades podemos citar la cuidadosa elección del mobiliario de diseño, entre cuyas piezas encontramos los taburetes E60 (1933) de Alvar Aalto o las sillas CH24 (1950) de Hans Wegner.
Como anécdota diremos que la casa se encuentra en venta por 1.360.000$. Desde luego, no será por lo económico que resulta adoptar medidas tan sencillas para su confort y aislamiento.

Reading a report in a technical magazine “Ten advices to isolate your home ofthe heat”, we have discovered this Australian house which plays with several
points that there are named: glasses with low thermal transmission and without
direct sunshine, protection of the glasses with blinds (better outdoors), crossed
ventilation, good orientation, rather day lighting, presence of plants and water...
The
orientation, providing it could be chosen, is basic. In our latitude, we will
link the living zones in the southern part, taking advantage of the heat in
winter and softening it in summer. We will put the big large windows in the
north, from where the light is more filtered and uniform.
In
this housing a row of bamboo has been planted protecting from the sun the great
glass façade; in the front, in parallel, a water chanel has been constructed, it
allows to obtain a level of very pleasant humidity, both for the maintenance of
the plants and to stay in the courtyard.
The
crossed ventilation is obtained making circulate the air between the main courtyard
and the small one of the entry on which the access to the house is placed.
As
some curiosities we can mention the careful choice of the design furniture, among
whose pieces we find the stools E60 (1933) from Alvar Aalto or the chairs CH24
(1950) from Hans Wegner.
As
anecdote we will say that the house is in sale for 1.360.000$. Certainly, we
don’t think that the price is so high comparing it with how economic is to
adopt so simple measures for its comfort and isolation.
